It seems kind of funny that the only person that is complaining about the payout format is someone that did not play. If I gave the option to every am player to have 100% payout in discs or 87% payout in cash for their division - so for example they could choose which option they preferred - do you think more would take the $90 in discs or the $80 in cash if given that choice?I believe what you expect and what others would actually choose are different.Next year I will put the option on the entry form where each player can choose the cash option or the prize option - I would be surprised if anyone chooses the merchandise - unless you decide to attend of course.Kind of like if you win a big lottery - you can choose to take the lump sum option - and in that case you don't even get close to 100% value - more like 50% - just an extreme example.Scott, I'm not criticizing your tournament or the way you run tournaments so don't take this so personally. I knew before the payouts were posted that I wasn't going to be able to attend and I'm sorry that I'm a college student who works a part-time job that forces me to work most Saturday mornings. Do not try to make me look like the bad guy by misconstruing the reasons that I wasn't able to attend your event. Also, this isn't a cash vs. merchandise payout argument I'm trying to make. I don't think that the system should change on payouts just because you're paying Ams in cash at an unsanctioned event. No matter what the tournament: sanctioned, unsanctioned, dubs, whatever, I think that Ams should receive payouts equal to what they paid to enter the tournament. If you guys disagree, that's fine, but you have started to take this too personally. I'm going to continue to do payouts the way I have been, give payouts that are equal to that division's entry fees, and if I feel that added cash is necessary, I will fundraise for it as opposed to putting down the AMs that pay for the fun of the game or work hard to improve until they can be Pro level. But don't think for one second that I'm not going to attend events in the Omaha area because I disagree with the way you handle payouts. I thought we were all on this high, so excited about doing the big event next fall and willing to take criticism to try to better disc golf for the state. Apparently I was mistaken...

Frisbee Freak
But once again, the age old philosophy is you wanna take home the cash, play open. There's golfers out there that have busted their collective asses for years to gain the respect and skill necessary to compete in the open division. To diminish their "reward" by paying equal cash to all the other divisions is a slap in the face of all pro golfers out there. Why should an am that's been playing for a year or two get more dough and reward for winning their said division, just because there were more golfers participating in said division?
I have officially learned that Nebraska disc golf still does not allow for any criticism to get better.
